A man has been shot in the second suspected paramilitary style shooting in Northern Ireland in a matter of days.

A man has been shot in the second suspected paramilitary style shooting in Northern Ireland in a matter of days.

The 24-year-old was recovering in hospital today after he was shot in the leg in north Belfast late last night.

Police said he was walking in Parkemount Terrace area when he was attacked and shot once in the left leg. It is understood he was attacked from behind close to a flight of steps leading to the Shore Road by two or three men who punched him to the ground before shooting him.

A Police Service spokeswoman said a motive for the shooting was being investigated and appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
