A 43-year-old Co Cavan man appeared in court yesterday on a series of charges of sexual assaults involving six girls over seven years. The accused faced 29 charges, one of which related to the unlawful detention of a girl against her will. The offences are alleged to have occurred between 1982 and 1989.
The accused was remanded on bail to a further hearing at Carrickmacross on July 25th and Judge Flann Brennan ordered that he must surrender his passport, report weekly to gardai and not make contact with any of the alleged victims.
