A Belfast man who was extradited to the Republic yesterday was remanded in custody at a special sitting of Ardee District Court.

Mr John Gerard Conlon, Templar House, New Lodge Road, Belfast was arrested yesterday on foot of an extradition warrant.

He was cautioned and brought to Dundalk Garda station. He is charged with causing grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm to Mr Peter Robinson, Laurel Bank, Poleglass, Belfast at Shore Road, Knocknagoran, Omeath, Co Louth, on August 21st, 1994.

The defendant was remanded in custody until Wednesday.
