The man charged in connection with the murder of the journalist Veronica Guerin was again remanded when he appeared in Kilmainham District Court.

Mr Paul Ward (32), of Windmill Park, Crumlin, is charged with conspiracy to murder Ms Guerin on June 26th, and harbouring and assisting persons at Walkinstown Road, Dublin, knowing they had murdered Ms Guerin around that date. He is also charged with possession and supply of cannabis resin at Old Court, Tallaght, on October 17th.

Ms Marie Cummins, for the State, said a file was being submitted to the DPP next week, and he would consider further charges. Mr Terence Hanahoe, for Mr Ward, said the drug charges could be dealt with separately, but Ms Cummins said they arose out of the same investigation as the charges relating to Veronica Guerin's murder. Both involved a huge Garda investigation and many witnesses.

Judge Claire Leonard remanded Mr Ward in custody to December 18th.
