Man killed in Limerick crash named

Gardaí have named the man killed in a two-car crash in Co Limerick yesterday as Patrick Mahu from Dooradoyle.

Gardaí have named the man killed in a two-car crash in Co Limerick yesterday as Patrick Mahu from Dooradoyle.

Mr Mahu, a French national, was aged 54.

The collision happened at about 6.10pm on the Adare to Limerick N21 road, at Monearla, four miles outside Limerick city.

Mr Mahu, who was driving on of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is understood he had pulled in when travelling towards Limerick to change a tyre when he was hit by a car travelling in the opposite direction.

The man’s wife, who is also French and who was in the car at the time and the driver of the second car were taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
