A man aged in his 50s has died after the car he was driving was involved in a collision with a tractor towing a trailer in Kilkenny.
The incident happened at 3.30 pm this afternoon on the M9 between junctions 9 and 10 southbound.
The man died at the scene .He was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post mortem examination will be carried out.
The southbound carriageway of the M9 between junctions 9 (Danesfort) and 10 (Knocktopher) remains closed to traffic and is not expected to re-open for a number of hours.
