A man has been sentenced to eight years' jail by Mr Justice Smith for raping a Co Louth girl over a period of years.

A man has been sentenced to eight years' jail by Mr Justice Smith for raping a Co Louth girl over a period of years.

George Kerr (53), of Callystown, Clogherhead, Co Louth, was found guilty at the Central Criminal Court in November on 12 charges of rape, indecent and sexual assault from 1989 to 1997. The victim's family requested the media to name Kerr. He was given six terms of eight years and six of three years, to run concurrently from November 14th.
