A former deputy headmaster of Bangor Grammer School has been jailed for sexually abusing boys during summer camps organised by the school.

Lindsay Brown (57), of College Avenue, Bangor, Co Down was convicted last month at Downpatrick Crown Court of two charges of gross indecdency and nine of indecent assault. He was sentenced yesterday to seven years imprisonment.

Judge Peter Gibson ordered that he be placed on the RUC's sex offenders' file for life.

Judge Gibson said the nine victims were aged between 11 and 13 and that the abuse took place between September 1968 and September 1981.
