A man who made threatening telephone calls to a garda sergeant from a hotel room was sent to jail for five years yesterday for dangerous driving and for the threat to a garda involved in the case.

Judge Tony Hunt sentenced Christopher Crowe (30), The Steeples, St Laurence’s Road, Chapelizod, Co Dublin, to three years with the final year suspended for dangerous driving and three years for the threatening phone calls, to be served consecutively.
