Man held over Waterford robbery

A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a service station in Co Waterford.

A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a service station in Co Waterford.

A man armed with a knife entered the station New Ross Road in Ferrybank at about 10pm last night and threatened staff.

He fled the scene on foot with a small amount of cash.

Gardaí arrested  a 20-year-old man about four hours later in the Dunmore Road area of Waterford. A plastic bag with a sum of money, a balaclava, and a hoody were found in a follow-up search.

The man is being held at Waterford Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
