Gardai in Drogheda seized cocaine worth around €400,000 today in what is thought to have been the first major seizure of the drug in the town.

A Dublin man in his late twenties who has been living in Drogheda for a number of months was arrested after gardai searched a house in the Termon Abbey estate this afternoon.

The man is still in garda custody in Drogheda and is being detained under the provisions of the Drug Trafficking Act which allow for persons to be detained for up to seven days before being charged or released.
