The State Pathologist will carry out an examination on the body of a man found dead in a Dublin laneway earlier this evening.

The man, believed to be in his late 20s, was found by three youths in a derelict shed on Coke Lane, near Smithfield Square. Preliminary examinations show he had suffered head injuries. He has not been identified as yet.

The discovery was made at around 4 p.m. by the youths who reported it to gardaí in Bridewell Garda Station.

The scene was sealed off pending the arrival of the State Pathologist, who had travelled from Athlone where she attended the scene of another death.
