Seven people were arrested yesterday by gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in Ballymun earlier this month.

Christopher Doyle (29) of Balcurris Road died in the Mater Hospital six days after being stabbed by a gang he had confronted when they tried to steal a neighbour's car.

Six men and a woman were arrested yesterday in north Dublin and questioned at several different Garda stations.

One man in his 20s was charged with assault causing serious harm to Mr Doyle last night and is due to appear in court later today.

The others were released without charge. Files are expected to be prepared for the DPP.
