A man is due before a special sitting of Ballyconnell District Court this morning in connection with a raid on a post office in Co Cavan yesterday.

A man armed with a knife held up the post office at Main Street, Mullagh at 3.30pm and threatened a number of staff. He left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and escaped across nearby fields.

In a follow-up search of a wooded area, gardai arrested a man and took him to Bailiboro Garda Station.

The man is in his early 20s with an address in Finglas, Dublin.
