Man drowns in Lough Derg

An employee of the Office of Public Works was drowned yesterday afternoon when his boat sank on Lough Derg, Co Roscommon. Gardai said the dead man was the sole occupant of the vessel, which capsized near Black Brig Bay. He is not being named until relatives have been notified.
