A French national has died after he fell into the sea at Ballyrean near Lisdoonvarna in Co Clare.
The man had been fishing when he slipped and fell at around 5.15pm.
The coast guard was alerted and he was brought by helicopter to Limerick General Hospital where he died a short time later.
It is believed the dead man had been living in in Birr, Co Offaly.
