Man dies in Dublin crash

A 23-year-old man man died after his car crashed into a lamp post in southwest Dublin early this morning.

A 23-year-old man man died after his car crashed into a lamp post in southwest Dublin early this morning.

Gardai at Tallaght are investigating the fatal single vehicle collision on the N81 Blessington Road near the Jobstown Inn at 2.40am.

The driver died when he lost control of the car he was driving, hitting a pedestrian railing and a lamp post. His remains were removed to Tallaght Hospital. A female front seat passenger received minor injuries.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A total of 190 people have died on the State's roads so far this year.
