Five people died on the roads over the weekend, including one man who was killed in a three car pile up on the Shankill by pass, near Bray, this morning.
Several injured people were taken to Loughlinstown Hospital and a Garda spokesman confirmed that the dead man was the driver of one of the cars. It was not clear what caused the accident.
A 10 year old boy died in Dublin after being struck by a bus on James's Street at 4.30 p.m. yesterday. His name was not being released until relatives were informed of the tragedy.
A man also died when the truck he was driving struck a wall on the Ratoath Road, Cabra, in Dublin shortly after 2 p.m. yesterday. It is thought he may have suffered a heart attack while driving. He was dead on admission to the Mater Hospital.
In Donegal, Mr Bernard Egan (90) from Doonan, was killed after he was struck by a car as he was walking on the outskirts of Donegal town.
On Saturday evening in Galway, a woman died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident earlier in the day.
