Man critical after Navan assault

Gardaí in Co Meath are investigating an assault which left a 63-year-old man in critical condition in hospital.

Gardaí in Co Meath are investigating an assault which left a 63-year-old man in critical condition in hospital.

The attack took place on Academy Street in Navan at about 12.30am. The man is being treated for his injuries at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. He suffered a serious head injury.

Investigating gardaí appealed to any person who may have witnessed an incident at this location to contact the incident room at Navan Garda station.

They are particularly anxious to trace man’s movements prior to the assault, a Garda spokesman said.

They would also like to speak to a number of people who were in the Academy Street area at about 12.30am.
