A man was critical in hospital after being attacked by a person wielding an axe in Limerick. He was named as Mr Desmond Carr (25), St Munchin's Street, St Mary's Park.
He was taken to St John's Hospital and transferred to University Hospital, Cork with head injuries.
Gardai are following a definite line of inquiry and a file is being sent to the DPP. The victim was found unconscious, and they i are appealing for witnesses.
