A Limerick man charged with stealing £60,000 cash, a mobile phone and a bank card appeared at a special sitting of Cork District Court yesterday and is due to come before the court again today. Mr Stephen Carroll (32), of no fixed abode, was charged with stealing the money and possessions from Mr Alan Murphy at Greenmount Buildings in Cork in the early hours of Saturday morning. Mr Carroll made no reply when arrested and cautioned by gardai. He had recently returned to Ireland, having spent two years in England. Judge Tim Lucey granted him free legal aid.
