A Dublin man was charged yesterday in Dublin District Court with the murder of Martin Comerford (36), of Charlemont Street, Ranelagh, whose body was discovered at Lower Mountpleasant Avenue, Ran elagh, last month. Mr Paul McCarthy (35), with an address at Chamber Court, Dublin, was remanded in custody for a week. He was arrested at Terenure Garda station yesterday. When charged, he replied that he had nothing to say. He was granted leave to apply for legal aid.

The dead man was himself due to stand trial in the Circuit Criminal Court for the murder of a drug-dealer, Anthony "Chester" Beatty, in a pub in Mary Street, Dublin, on November 30th, 1997.
