Mark Nash, who is originally from Huddersfield in the UK, was charged this morning over the deaths of psychiatric patients Sylvia Shiels and Mary Callinan in Grangegorman in March 1997.

The women were found stabbed to death in their beds in sheltered accommodation at Grangegorman.

Dean Lyons, a homeless drug addict, was wrongfully charged with the double murder over ten years ago after making a "confession" to gardaí. Charges against Mr Lyons, who has since died, were dropped in 1998.
