A 37-year-old man appeared before a special court sitting in Limerick last night charged with possession of a Glock pistol at an apartment in the city.

Sam O’Flaherty, Henry Street, Limerick, was one of four men arrested in Limerick over the bank holiday weekend following a search operation by gardaí. He appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court last night.

Solicitor John Herbert was assigned to represent O’Flaherty who was granted free legal aid.

Judge Eugene O’Kelly remanded him in custody until October 31st.
