A 24-year-old man has been charged at a special sitting of Limerick District Court this afternoon in connection with the fatal stabbing of man in the city last night.

Mr Anthony McMahon from Raheen Square in Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick City, was remanded in custody to appear again next Thursday. A psychiatric assessment is to be carried out.

The victim Mr Anthony O'Shea (40), was stabbed on Denmark Street in the City at 8 p.m. last night.
