A 22-year-old man is in hospital today after an assault in Derry overnight that the RUC said was paramilitary-style.
At about 3.15 a.m. five men broke into the man's house in the Ferndale area and attacked him with sledgehammers and baseball bats.
He sustained leg and arm injuries.
Detectives at Strand Road RUC station are appealing for information.
