Gardaí in Cork have arrested a man in his twenties as part of an investigation into illegally held firearms in the Blarney area.
Six people have been arrested since last Thursday. It has been reported the arrests are part of a Garda investigation of dissident republican activity in the area, but a Garda spokesperson would not confirm this.
Two of the men have already appeared before Cork District Court on firearms offences; a third has been released without charge.
Two men and woman are still being detained in connection with the investigation.
