Gardaí have arrested a 39 year-old man in connection with a fatal crash on the main Cork-to-Dublin road in Co Laois this morning.
One man died in the crash which happened when a van collided with a lorry on the N8 Cork-Dublin road near Clonad at around 7.10am today.
The dead man was a passenger in the van.
The drivers of the two vehicles were taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
Gardaí confirmed this evening that a man was arrested at the Midlands Regional Hospital. He is currently being held at Portlaoise Garda station.
