A 23-year-old man has appeared before a special sitting of Cork District Court this afternoon in connection with the death of Donal Manley in Cork earlier this month.

The man was arrested on Friday night.

The body of retired barman Donal Manley (62) was found near the foot of the stairs at his house on High Street, Capwell, Cork city on the evening of October 12th.

A postmortem concluded that Mr Manley died as a result of serious head injuries

Earlier this week, gardaí investigating the murder of Mr Manley appealed to the public for assistance in tracing a man seen carrying a television close to the scene of the crime on the night he died after it was revealed that a television was missing from the victim's house.
