A Dublin man who was due to go on trial for murder at the Central Criminal Court this morning has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and will be sentenced in October.

John McDonagh (19), of Carton Road, Poppintree, had pleaded not guilty to murdering James Donoghue (26) at Dane Road, Ballymun, Dublin on September 10th, 2006.

He changed that plea today to not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter.

Mr Justice Peter Charlton remanded McDonagh in custody until a sentence date of October 6th, 2009 when facts in the case will be heard.
