One of four men accused of a €2.2 million robbery of a Securicor van has been sent for trial.

Christopher Corcoran (58), from Bayside Boulevard North, Sutton, Dublin, will appear before Dublin's Circuit Criminal Court in October.

Mr Corcoran and three others are each charged with falsely imprisoning a security van driver, his wife and two sons in March 2005, and with the robbery of over €2.2 million from the Securicor van.

The three - Mark Farrelly (35), from Moatview Court, Coolock; David Byrne (33), from Old Brazel Way, Knocksedan, Swords; and Niall Bryne (24), from Aughavanagh Road in Crumlin - are to reappear before Dublin District Court in two weeks.

It is alleged that during the robbery, Securicor driver Paul Richardson, from Raheny, was forced by armed raiders to go to work while his family was held hostage in Clune wood in Wicklow.

Mr Richardson was allegedly told to drive his security van to the Strawberry Beds area near the Phoenix Park, where the cash was stolen.
