An 82-year-old Donegal man has been given a three- year sentence on each of 46 counts of sexual abuse of his three nieces and a neighbour’s child at the Circuit Court sitting in Letterkenny.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had the last two years and four months of his sentences suspended and will serve eight months because his life expectancy is short.
The court heard yesterday that he assaulted the girls when they were between nine and 13, five and 10, seven and nine and eight and 10 respectively, between 1985 and 1989.
