A man (19) was killed early this morning when he was struck by a van in Co Cork.
The fatal collision happened shortly after 2am at Model Farm Road, Carrigrohane. Gardaí from Ballinacollig Garda station are investigating.
He was later named as Michael Moroney (19) from Coolishal, Ballyduff Upper, Waterford
The man's death brings to 297 the total number of people killed on the State's roads this year, according to Garda statistics.
Gardai today named the female cyclist who was killed in Limerick city on Wednesday as Nadia Lescuier (31), with an address at Perry Court, Limerick.
The 17-year-old who was killed in a single vehicle collision at Shanganagh Road earlier this week has been named as Michael Mc Conville from Davitt Park, Ballybrack, Dublin.
