Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has turned down a bid by Turkish side Galatasaray for defender Abel Xavier.
Galatasaray have asked to take the player on loan but Houllier said he would only consider a permanent move for around £1 million sterling.
"If he wants to go, he goes but it has to be a transfer," said Houllier. "I can understand his situation because he isn't getting regular football at the moment".
