Limerick teen charged with murder

The son of murdered Limerick crime figure Kieran Keane has appeared in court charged with murder.

The son of murdered Limerick crime figure Kieran Keane has appeared in court charged with murder.

Joseph Keane (18) of Greenhills Road, Garryowen, Limerick, appeared before Limerick District Court today.

He was charged with the murder of Darren Coughlan (18), at Old Cratloe Road, Limerick, on November 4th, 2005.

Mr Keane was also charged with withholding information in relation to Mr Coughlan's death. Mr Coughlan, from Moyross, died in hospital a few days after he was allegedly attacked and beaten.

Judge Tom O'Donnell consented to an application by gardaí to have the defendant remanded in custody for a week.

Mr Keane was remanded in custody to appear before Limerick District Court on December 20th.

Two other people are currently before the courts charged with Mr Coughlan's murder.
