RACING: Officials have acted quickly to reschedule the high-profile abandoned meeting at Leopardstown in order to save three Grade One contests. Sunday's fixture was cancelled following a 7.30am inspection due to frozen snow on the track.
Horse Racing Ireland have announced that the meeting, featuring the Hennessy Gold Cup, will now take place on Sunday, February 15th.
Fresh entries for this meeting must be made by 12 noon on Tuesday, February 10th while the Hennessy, Deloitte Novice Hurdle and the Dr P.J. Moriarty Novice Chase revert back to original entries.
Fresh forfeits/supplementary entries are also to be made by 12 noon on Tuesday, February 10th.
Declarations to run must be made by 10am on Friday, February 13th.
The rescheduling of Leopardstown means next Sunday’s Navan card has now been transferred to Monday, February 16th.
Horse Racing Ireland’s director of racing Jason Morris said: “It is obviously vitally important to retain Leopardstown’s Hennessy Gold Cup meeting on a day when the maximum possible crowd can attend.
“Leopardstown manager Tom Burke and Navan manager Darren Lawlor have worked together to ensure that both of these great racing fixtures go ahead, to the benefit of the racing public and the industry as a whole.”
