Leeds have denied claims from Holland that they have made an official Stg£8million bid for Feyenoord winger Brett Emerton.

Leeds have denied claims from Holland that they have made an official Stg£8million bid for Feyenoord winger Brett Emerton.

Boss David O'Leary was spotted in Rotterdam at the weekend where the Dutch club were playing Heerenveen.

Feyenoord claimed that top of O'Leary's agenda was the subject of Emerton - a 23-year-old Australian international who has also been attracting the attention of Liverpool.

But Leeds sources insist that while Emerton remains a potential target, O'Leary was actually in Holland to check out the progress of another, unnamed player.

A Feyenoord spokesman said that O'Leary had meetings with Feyenoord president Jorien van den Henrik.

He told the Yorkshire Post: "They had coffee in the President's Club and talked about many things, including Emerton.

"But Feyenoord are still waiting to see if Leeds will meet the valuation of the player."
