A GREENPEACE landing on Rockall yesterday has been welcomed by the Dublin Alderman, Nlr Sean Dublin Bay Rockall Loftus, who has said the outcrop is part of Co Donegal.

The landing, which took place late on Tuesday night, was made by British Greenpeace activists to highlight the adverse effects of oil exploration. A Greenpeace helicopter airlifted a survival capsule on to a rocky ledge, which a rotating crew will use as a campaign base for monitoring the expansion of oilfields around the plateau some 280 miles from Scotland.
