Fianna Fáil is not telling the truth about the problems within the health system, Labour's spokesperson on Health Ms Liz McManus said today.

Not only has Fianna Fáil failed to explain how it will end waiting lists within two years, but now it seems the Minister is not even making sure existing services will be maintained at the current level, Ms McManus said.

She said Labour's plan for free GP service could be extended to everybody within two years and that "caring for people at a local level" was fundamental to a good health service.

She also said growing our own medical manpower, so increasing the numbers of Irish nurses and doctors being trained in Ireland was of paramount importance.
