Killing `an RUC cover-up'

The killing of Robert Hamill in Portadown was "an obvious cover-up" by the RUC

The killing of Robert Hamill in Portadown was "an obvious cover-up" by the RUC. Mr Alec Maskey, a Belfast councillor, said "the wall of silence" surrounding the death was reminiscent of similar incidents in Derry almost 20 years ago. The conference agreed motions calling for an independent inquiry into the killing and for the disbandment of the RUC.

"The history and record of the force speaks for itself. It will never be accepted by nationalists," said Mr Maskey.
