Gardaí have named the 31 year old woman killed in yesterday's (23/10/07)crash in Co Kilkenny at Alena Svobodova with and address at Middleknock, Dublin Road, Co Kilkenny. Ms Svobodova was a native of the Czech Republic.
A woman was killed yesterday morning when her car collided with a truck in Co Kilkenny has been named.
Alena Svobodova (31) from Middleknock, Dublin Road, Kilkenny was a native of the Czech Republic. The collision occurred on the main Kilkenny-to-Waterford road (N9) at Barretstown, Knocktopher at about 6.45am.
The driver of the truck was hospitalised, but his injuries are not believed to be serious. He was taken to St Luke's hospital.
A total of 266 people have died on the State's roads to date this year in 242 crashes. Of those, 106, or nearly 40 per cent, of those killed were drivers. There were 60 pedestrians killed, 57 passengers, 13 cyclists, 28 motorcyclists and two pillion passengers, according to Garda figures.
