A man charged with raping a 12-year-old girl in a village in Co Kerry was remanded on continuing bail at Tralee District Court today.

The 25-year-old man, who cannot be named, has been charged with raping the girl in a south Kerry village on February 11th.

A previous District Court sitting heard he lived in close proximity to the girl and there was a possibility of interference with witnesses. He was ordered not to come within 10 miles of the village.

He has been living in a town outside the area and was given consent to bail on condition he sign on at the local garda station.

Sureties of €15,000, including a cash surety of €12,000, have been fixed. These.

Judge Humphrey Kelleher ordered the book of evidence to be served before the accused's next appearance at Tralee District Court on April 9th.
