Kevin Keegan ended his seven-month absence from football today when he was named the manager of Manchester City.

He will be unveiled today at the new boss of the newly relegated Maine Road club in succession to Joe Royle, who was sacked last week.

City see Keegan, who quit as England boss in October after World Cup defeat to Germany at Wembley, as the man to lead them back into the top flight.

Keegan has previously taken Newcastle and Fulham to promotion.
