The High Court has reserved judgment in a lengthy action which may have significant implications for education provision for autistic children.

Final legal submissions were made yesterday in the action taken against the Minister for Education and the State by Mr Jamie Sinnott (22) and his mother, Ms Kathryn Sinnott, of Ballinhassig, Co Cork. Mr Justice Barr reserved judgment on the 29-day case and said he hoped to deliver his decision as soon as he could. But, he added, this would obviously take a good deal of time given the volume of documentation.

Mr Sinnott and his mother are seeking a declaration that their constitutional rights have been breached by the State's failure to provide free primary education for him, an order that such education be provided from now, and damages.
