Two men accused of a double murder in a bar in Poyntzpass, Co Armagh, last year will be told this morning if their trial at Belfast Crown Court is to continue.

Mr Stephen McClean (30), Hillside Park, Banbridge, and Mr Noel McCready (32), Dickson Park, Seapatrick, have denied the murders of lifelong friends Phillip Allen and Damien Trainer, who were shot dead on March 3rd, 1998.

Mr Justice Kerr adjourned the hearing yesterday following submissions by defence lawyers that there was insufficient evidence for a conviction. The judge said that he wished to consider the detailed submissions overnight.
