A Tipperary man has been sentenced to four years' imprisonment for having unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter on a date in 1991-2 when she was 14.
The 48-year-old man also received concurrent two-year terms for sexually assaulting the girl and her sister (then 15) in 1991. He pleaded guilty.
Judge Cyril Kelly said the common thread running through decisions on sentencing in the superior courts was that there should be "light at the end of the tunnel" and so he proposed to release the man in September 1998.
