Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian near the border fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel this morning.
An Israeli army spokesman said troops had opened fire at a man whom they suspected was trying to plant a bomb on the Gaza side of the border fence.
Earlier, a missile fired by an Israeli aircraft destroyed a rocket launcher in the northern Gaza Strip that had earlier been used in an attack on southern Israel, the army said.
