JERUSALEM - Israel and Greece have agreed to hold joint naval manoeuvres in the eastern Mediterranean later this year, an Israeli official said. Israeli media reports said the exercises were meant to assuage Greek fears over closer military ties between Israel and Turkey.

Meanwhile Greece called for US support in its row with Turkey while it planned a $10 billion arms purchase.
