The misery continued today for the Irish women's hockey team who suffered their seventh consecutive defeat at the World Cup in Perth, Australia.

Ireland were on the receiving end of a 6-0 thumping by South Africa this time, a result which leaves them firmly rooted to the bottom of Pool B without a point.

All that remains for the Irish women is two more games in the play-offs to determine the lowly (13th-16th) places in the tournament.
