Mick McCarthy today announced his reduced squad for Ireland’s home friendly against Croatia on August 15th.
The Irish manager had originally named 39 players but will retain only 24 of them. First team call-ups have been issued to Millwall’s Player of the Year last season, Stephen Reid, Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison, and Manchester United centre-back John O’Shea.
Stephen McPhail has been recalled having recovered from the injury which ruled him out of most of last season.
Notable absences from the reduced squad are Mark Kinsella, Gary Breen, Steve Carr, and Kenny Cunningham, who are all injured, plus prolific Bohemians striker Glen Crowe, who has not been selected.
